Our process: turning used goods into quality

Over the years, Smart Generation has taken back tens of thousands of used devices from the market, from individuals, companies, end of operating leases, end of corporate leases, ex-demos, and end of exhibition. The entire process of reconditioning each and every Smart Generation device can be summarized into three macro processes.

Hardware verifications

As a first step, our experienced technicians put each device under scrutiny, ensuring the proper functionality of all internal components.

In products such as MacBooks, iPhones, iPads, and Apple Watch, the built-in battery is replaced if it is found to be less than 80% efficient than a new one.

Hardware testing does not necessarily involve replacement of mechanical parts. These are replaced with high-quality components only if it is determined from the checks that the original part is no longer efficient.

Software and datawipe verifications

After ensuring that the hardware is fully functional, our team initializes the hard drive to protect the privacy of the previous user and ensure the next user that the product is entirely data-free. At the same time, the latest version of the operating system is installed.

Next, technicians perform more than 40 manual tests and monitor the device for more than 6 consecutive hours to verify its proper response to use and avert any abnormal overheating.

Indoor and outdoor cleaning

The last stage of the reconditioning process focuses on cleaning.

The device is thoroughly sterilized and disinfected, both internally and externally, to ensure a hygienically safe product.

Advanced tools used in the cleaning process restore the device to its original shine.
